Preface

Bitwarden is Wycliffe USA’s preferred password management application for those choosing to use it, but is not directly supported by Wycliffe USA. Using Bitwarden products is a personal choice.

For those looking for a highly rated, well encrypted password management system, we highly recommend using Bitwarden instead of letting Chrome manage your passwords. Chrome does not offer any type of encryption or security, and it is very easy to steal all of your passwords out of Chrome and most web browsers. Using something more robust like Bitwarden would be preferred for keeping your information safe and secure.

Once it’s set up, you are able to manage all of the passwords used in your daily life.

For those already using a password manager, such as LastPass, OnePass, etc, you may want to keep using that. If you are looking for a change, or for a free option, then Bitwarden is probably the best option out there.

Bitwarden Platforms

Bitwarden is available on a number of different platforms, including:

  • Web Browser

  • Web Browser Plugins (for auto filling in your passwords)

  • Stand alone desktop software (Windows, Mac and Linux)

  • Phone Apps (iOS and Android)

Signing Up for a Free Account

For those that would like to use Bitwarden for work and personal use, we encourage you to sign up using a personal email account. This way if something happens with your Wycliffe.org email account, you will always be able to login using your personal email account. This will be helpful if you change jobs or retire and you can continue to use Bitwarden outside of Wycliffe.

Bitwarden Help Center

Bitwarden has a very helpful and easy to follow Help Center already. Please refer to Bitwarden’s Help Center for documentation and how to guides on getting started and general usage.
