This document will only cover how to add your Wycliffe Google Account to Google Authenticator.

This document assumes you have a smartphone with internet access ready to use for this process. This document also assumes you have already installed Google Authenticator on your smartphone. If you have not yet installed Google Authenticator, CLICK HERE for installation instructions.

Logging into Wycliffe Google account settings

  • CLICK HERE to log directly into your Google security management page.

    • Link: security.google.com

  • After clicking on Authenticator, you may be asked to verify your account again, do so now.

Setup Google Authenticator

  • A new window will pop up for the Authenticator app setup.

  • Click the Set up authenticator button at the bottom.

  • You will be presented with a QR code to scan with your smart phone’s camera using the Google Authenticator app.

On Your Smartphone

  • Now you will need to get your smart phone out and open up the Google Authenticator app.

  • Tap past the welcome screen if it’s still showing until you get to the Setup your first account screen.

  • Tap the Scan a QR code button

  • Your phone may ask you to authorize Google Authenticator to use your camera. Give it permission now to do so or you will not be able to continue.

  • Once your Google Authenticator can access your camera, it will automatically show the camera screen.

  • Aim your camera at the QR code on your computer screen.

  • It should immediately add it to your list of authentication codes you can use within the app.

  • Keep the app open on your smartphone. You will need the number on the screen to complete the next step for your Google account authentication.

Back on your computer

  • Once you have scanned the QR code using the Google Authenticator app on your smartphone, click on the Next button on your computer screen.

  • Next you will need to type in the code that you see on the Google Authenticator app on your smartphone.

  • Notice the little timer next to the code. This code will change every 30 seconds.

    • NOTE: If it is nearing the end of its timer, just wait for a new code before typing it in. This will avoid failures between when the number changes and when you actually type it in.

  • Once you have typed in the code, click the Verify button at the bottom.

  • Once you click on the Verify button, it will bring you back to the first screen, this time showing you that you have Google Authenticator setup as your authentication app.

Congratulations! You have successfully added Google Authenticator as a secondary authentication method for your Wycliffe USA Google account!

Any time you are required to enter in an authentication method for your Wycliffe USA Google account, you will be able to use either your security key or Google Authenticator.
