Wycliffe USA
Wycliffe.org Website
2-Step Verification
v20221026.JS
Purpose and Scope
The purpose of this document is to explain how to log into Wycliffe.org with the 2-factor authentication settings.
As of October 2022, Wycliffe USA has enabled 2-factor authentication requirements for all Wycliffe members and staff that log into the Wycliffe.org website. Those outside of the organization will not be required to do this.
This has been enabled to maintain security standards throughout the Wycliffe USA networks and systems, which will help keep our data safe.
This document will not go into any detail of how to install or configure an authentication app. There will be separate documentation linked in this article for those needing installation and setup instructions for authentication apps.
Before getting started
There are two authentication options that you may use when logging into the Wycliffe.org website.
Email Authentication
No app required
You will need to check for an email each time it prompts you to do this
Authenticator App
No need to check for emails
You most likely already have an app installed that you use for other Wycliffe systems.
For those planning to use the Email authentication option, there is nothing you need to do, except make sure you can log in to check the email account you have on file with the Wycliffe.org website.
For those wanting to use an authentication app, there will be instructions further down in this document.
Email Authentication
Email authentication is an option for those that do not have a smartphone or do not wish to use an authentication app.
When trying to log in, you will be prompted to check your email for an authentication code, which you will then type 7.5into a field on your screen to continue with the login process.
For those using email authentication, you will need to perform the following steps:
CLICK HERE to navigate to the Wycliffe.org website
Click on the Log in button on the top right of the page
Log in with your Wycliffe.org account.
The username will be your Wycliffe.org email address
The password will be whatever you set up for Wycliffe.org, and is different from the rest of Wycliffe’s systems. This is not the same account as Workday or Google.
Next, click on the green Log In button at the bottom of the screen
If you have not previously set up an authentication app for Wycliffe.org, it will automatically send a verification code via email.
The next screen will automatically send an email verification code to your Wycliffe.org email address.
Check your Wycliffe.org email address for an email, titled “Your Verification Code”, and note the verification code within this email.
Type the verification code in the field on the Email Verification screen.
Once the code has been verified, you will see a confirmation screen telling you so.
This screen will also ask you if you would like to set up App Authentication.
At this point, you can decide if you want to set up an authentication app or just keep using email verification each time.
If you wish to continue email verification, click on No Thanks.
There is nothing more you need to do. You will be redirected back to the Wycliffe.org website and will be logged in and ready to view your account.
If you wish to set up an authentication app, click Yes. You will need to perform the additional steps below.
Install an Authenticator App
There are two apps that the Wycliffe HelpDesk recommends for your smartphone. You may use either one of them.
You may already have one installed if you are already using 2-factor authentication in your personal life or from a previous job. Take a moment to check if you already have one of these apps installed before proceeding. If so, you may skip this installation step.
Note: Regardless of which of these apps a website asks for to authenticate with, whichever of these two apps you pick to install will be fine for all uses on almost all websites. You may use Authy with Google, and vice versa. It doesn’t matter which one you use, they will both work. Below are a few pros and cons to help you decide.
Click on either of the links below for installation help
Easier to use
No account required to use it
No backup features
Easier to move to a new device in the future
-OR-
Requires signing up for an account to use it
Has backup features for all of your accounts
Possibly difficulties moving to a new device if you forget your password or don’t meet certain requirements
Authentication App Setup
Once you have completed the installation of an authentication app, proceed with the following steps.
After clicking Yes in the previous screenshot above, you will be presented with a Two-Factor App Configuration screen.
Using your authenticator app, scan the QR code on the screen.
Once you have successfully added the QR code to your authentication app, you will want to make sure to give it a distinguishing name.
NOTE: If you are already using the same authentication app for other Wycliffe systems, you may notice that this new Wycliffe.org code looks similar in title and logo to the others you have already added. Look for an Edit option, such as an Edit menu, or a little pencil icon on your authentication app screen. Then give it a new name, such as “Wycliffe.org Website”, or something to set it apart from your Wycliffe account or Wycliffe Google account.
After giving it a new name, you will need to verify the account before you can start using it.
Note the numbers on the screen. These will change every 30 seconds. If the timer is close to running out, wait for it to reset to a new number before proceeding.
At the bottom of the screen, under Validate Security Code
Type the number you see on the authentication app screen into the field here
Then click on the green Active Authenticator App button
Once this step has been completed, there is nothing more you need to do.
You will be redirected back to the Wycliffe.org website and will be logged in and ready to view your account.
