Purpose and Scope

The purpose of this document is to explain how to install Google Authenticator on your mobile device for use with your various Wycliffe USA accounts, including your Wycliffe Google and Wycliffe IDP accounts.

This document will only cover how to add the Google Authenticator app for your mobile device. This will not cover adding your various Wycliffe USA accounts to it.

This document assumes you have a mobile device ready to use for this process and access to the internet on your mobile device. This document also assumes you are capable of installing an app from your phone’s app store.

Installation

  • On your mobile device, open the corresponding app store for your operating system.

    • For Apple devices, look for the Apple App Store

    • For Android devices, look for the Google Play Store

  • In your app store's search field, type in Google Authenticator.

  • You should see the Google Authenticator app show up in the search. Its icon looks like the one below.

  • Once Google Authenticator is installed, locate it on your phone and tap the icon to launch it.

  • Tap Get Started

  • Tap Sign in to log in with a Google account

NOTE:

We encourage you to use a personal Google account to sign in with. This will allow you to backup your codes should something happen to your phone. If you ever leave Wycliffe, you can continue to use Google Authenticator with any other personal codes that you added into the app over time.

If you do not have a personal Google account, you may use your Wycliffe Google account, but if you lose access to your Wycliffe Google account, you won’t be able to retrieve your codes.

  • Tap Continue when prompted with this security notification

  • Sign in with your Google account.

  • Click Next to continue

(Optional) 2-Step Verification

  • Once successfully signed in, you may get a 2-step verification prompt if you have this enabled on your Google account. If so, complete the 2-Step Verification actions to continue.

Note:

Personal Google accounts will only have this enabled if you turned it on in your own account.

Wycliffe accounts will all have this enabled.

  • Once successfully logged in, you should see a screen similar to this one that includes a big + button, or other buttons you can tap to add codes.

Conclusion

Now that you have finished setting Google Authenticator up on your mobile device, you are now ready to add your various Wycliffe USA accounts to it.
